Freddie Roach WILL be in the corner for Matt Macklin when he challenges for the European middleweight title.

He meets Darren Barker on September 18 at the LG Arena, Birmingham.

Macklin will spend six weeks with Roach at the Wild Card gym in LA ahead of the fight.

And Roach will journey with him across the Atlantic to be in his corner.

It means Macklin will be able to call on one of the best brains in boxing.

Roach currently trains P4P king Manny Pacquiao, as well as Amir Khan.

"I'm definitely a better fighter now I'm with Freddie," said Macklin.

"He's made some improvements and the sparring you get in the gym is fantastic. I think he could be the missing piece in the jigsaw puzzle."
