It's been about two months since trainer Freddie Roach has seen Frankie Gomez, who on May 7th conclusively defeated Mauricio Herrera as part of the Saul Alvarez-Amir Khan undercard at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Gomez has had his fair share of issues over the years, including an incident last May, when he missed the contracted weight by over 6-pounds for an HBO televised fight with Humberto Soto - leading to the fight getting canceled.

"I haven't seen him unfortunately, I'm a little disappointed. After his last fight he told me, 'I'll see you at the gym in five days' and that was the new rule and I haven't seen him since. I'm a little disappointed because Frankie is a great fighter and I think he's just missing out. He has a lot of potential," Roach told BoxingScene.com.

When asked if he's running out of patience with the 24-year old from East Los Angeles, who now has a record of 21-0 (13 KO's)  Roach responded with a chuckle:

"They've called a couple of times and they said he'd be here on Monday - and that was two Mondays ago. But the thing is I like Frankie but we've got to find out why. Why is this happening? Why doesn't he get back right away so he can get ready for another fight and get an opponent right away."

The fight with Herrera was a welterweight contest but Roach has made it clear in the past he prefers Gomez to fight at 140.

"He's one of those guys we've got to get active right away and so forth," continued Roach. "Golden Boy knows that but we're running into the same problems. If he's not here we can't get ready."

Word is that Golden Boy Promotions would like to have another meeting with Gomez (and weigh him in person) before scheduling his next fight.
