T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas - Undefeated Frankie "Pitbull" Gomez (21-0, 13 KOs) picked up the biggest win of his career with a dominating ten round unanimous decision over former WBA interim-junior welterweight champion Mauricio "El Maestro" Herrera (22-6) in a welterweight fight. All three judges had it 100-90 for Gomez.

The fight wasn't pretty to watch in th early rounds, with a lot of holding and grabbing. Herrera was coming forward, working a jab and applying a lot of pressure on Gomez. The unbeaten prospect stayed on the backfoot, looking for counters.

In the second, Herrera suffered a cut under his left eye from what seemed to be a clash of heads. Seeing blood, Gomez unloaded with a fury of punches. Herrera was coming forward once again in the third, but he wasn't doing a lot of work and Gomez was coming in with combinations.

Gomez controlled the fourth. He was unloading with some hard punches when he backed Herrera to the ropes and he was landing well-time counters.A similar story in the fifth, but with Gomez coming forward at times to press the action. Herrera was getting more aggressive in the sixth. The more accurate punching Gomez was getting the better of the exchanges.

Gomez continued to outfight and outbox in the seventh. He continued to do so in the eight as Herrera tired to bait him into a war. Herrera was trying different tactics in the ninth, yet Gomez was still able to control the action and would not allow his rhythm to get disrupted. Gomez stayed poised in the tenth, and kept composed to box his way to the finish line.
