Frankie Gavin has made a switch in trainer ahead of his return to the ring.

The 31-year-old looks set for one last hoorah and is expected back in the squared circle in the spring.

Gavin (23-3, 14 KOs) was knocked out by Sam Eggington in their all-Midlands battle last October, live on Sky Sports.

And he will now train alongside his old nemesis after moving to Eastside Boxing Gym in Birmingham where he will be working with Jon Pegg, Paul Counihan and co.

The former IBF world title challenger has parted company with Max McCracken –– who he joined after leaving Tom Chaney in 2015 –– and is expected to make a gradual move down in weight to 140 pounds.

Gavin, who took to Facebook on Friday (February 17) to reveal the news, has said that he will be back in action on May 13 at the Barclaycard Arena, live on Sky Sports, as part of the supporting cast to Kal Yafai’s first defence of the WBA super-flyweight title.

“[I have] sat down with Max [McCracken] and decided it would be best if I moved on and had a change,” Gavin wrote on social media.

“[I] want to thank Max and the lads for everything. I now will be based at Eastside Boxing Club where there will be plenty of in-house sparring for me –– and their results lately speak for themselves.

“I know this will be my last chance now so I intend to grab it with both hands.”

Gavin also hinted that he could return to action earlier than the aforementioned May date but further details will be revealed in due course.
