We had to work very hard and pull out all the stops behind the scenes to deliver Billy Joe Saunders a shot at another world title and now it is down to him to join the club of two-weight world champions by taking care of business against the WBO No.1 ranked Shefat Isufi.

Winning will open all sorts of doors for our man, who could drop back down to middleweight and take an increased percentage for a shot at his old title or, alternatively, he could stick at 168lbs and fight the likes of Callum Smith or the winner of James DeGale-Chris Eubank jr this weekend.

The super middleweight division does not currently have a dominant force, so unification fights are another strong possibility. This is a big chance for Bill to become a major player.

IT IS A great pity that a shoulder injury has forced us to put back the challenge of Nicola Adams for the WBO world flyweight title held by Arely Mucino that was scheduled for our March 8 card at the Royal Albert Hall.

The stage was set for Nicola to headline a show amid the splendour of the grandest venue of them all but, unfortunately, it is not to be on this occasion and it is a big disappointment because it would have been an amazing showcase for the women’s game on International Women’s Day.

The fight is now temporarily in the world title waiting room to be allocated a new date when Nicola is ready and the explosive Anthony Yarde will fill the void at the Albert Hall with the defence of his WBO Intercontinental light heavyweight title against Travis Reeves.

Meanwhile, a world title date for your diaries that is coming very soon is for Josh Warrington’s second defence of his IBF world featherweight title against Kid Galahad.

The title shots of Billy Joe and Nicola, along with Josh’s defence, will make it a hat-trick of world title fights involving home fighters to be screened on BT Sport before the summer. Not bad for starters.
