Frank Warren, promoter for Billy Joe Saunders, is looking to upgrade his boxer's upcoming contest with Shefat Isufi, which is scheduled for May 18th.

Initially, the fight was scheduled to have the vacant WBO super middleweight title at stake - because the WBO's champion at 168, Gilberto Ramirez, was heading up to make his light heavyweight debut.

But then Ramirez complained that he never vacated his belt, and the sanctioning body downgraded Saunders-Isufi to a clash for the interim-title.

Ramirez made his light heavyweight debut last weekend, with a fourth round stoppage of Tommy Karpency.

What was more alarming, was Ramirez's size in the fight. He made Karpency, a light heavyweight contender, look very small. It was reported that Ramirez was nearly 200-pounds when he entered the ring.

Afterwards, Ramirez appeared to be more inclined to remain at 175-pounds.

Based on the events and statements of the last few days, Warren is hoping that the WBO will re-sanction Saunders-Isufi for the full WBO title at 168.

But in order for that to happen, Ramirez will have to send a letter to the WBO, informing the sanctioning body that he's officially vacating his crown.

"Gilberto Ramirez gave every indication that his future lies at light heavyweight after debuting in the division with a fourth round stoppage against Tommy Karpency in LA last weekend," Warren said.

"The fact that he apparently came into the ring at something like 195lbs should really tell you all you need to know and Ramirez himself was talking about taking on all the champions at light heavy after the fight.

"Now we just need him to make it official and put his intentions in writing to the WBO. Then we will be able to upgrade the fight between our own Billy Joe Saunders and his May 18 opponent, the No.1 ranked Shefat Isufi, from interim to full title status.

"Ramirez, as a champion moving up, would then be in the mix with Sergey Kovalev and Anthony Yarde for the WBO world light heavyweight title, so there are interesting times ahead."
