Heavyweight contender Frank Sanchez is very pleased with his reunion with veteran trainer Eddy Reynoso and Team Canelo.

After almost a year apart, the Cuban giant and the Mexican professor are back together at the San Diego facility to resume their search for a world title, in a new chapter that began with the recent knockout victory over Daniel Martz.

"[The Martz bout] was a fight we took to stay active, because we have a fight against Chris Arreola and other fighters down the line on the horizon. We took [the fight], we did it and it came out the perfect knockout. I did exactly what my managers and coach asked me to do," Sanchez told George Ebro.

Sanchez explains that a fight against Arreola is the next test on his path - and he hopes an impressive win will lead to a much bigger opportunity. At the moment, the date and location for the Arreola bout has not been finalized.

“Yes, [the Arreola fight] is already something agreed upon. We are waiting for them to give us the date for that fight. But let's hope it's one of many more to come until we can get closer to a world title. Big things are coming after Arreola, perhaps the Chinese man [Zhilei Zhang] who beat Joe Joyce. We're going after everyone up there. We just have to wait for the opportunity," Sanchez said.

During his time away from Reynoso and Team Canelo, Sanchez was working with another veteran coach in Joe Goossen. The reunion with Reynoso was an easy one.

“I had already been [with Reynoso and Team Canelo] as a family. They always welcome me there, Reynoso, Canelo. They welcomed me back as always, as if I had never left. They told me that we are going to move forward, you are going to be world champion, which is something that now more than ever I have for sure," Sanchez said.
