Highly touted Takashi Miura (29-2-2, 22 KOs) of Tokyo is regarded as the "Mexican Destroyer" for his string of wins over top Mexican contenders in the last few years.

On November 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Miura will defend his WBC super featherweight title for the fifth time against Mexico City’s unbeaten Francisco Vargas (22-0-1, 16 KOs) as part of the HBO Pay-Per-View undercard to Miguel Cotto vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Vargas is a rising name in the sport and sees the bout as a breakout opportunity to take his career to the next level.

He is training very hard in Mexico and sparring with some of the best lefthanders that he was able to acquire for the camp.

"I am very motivated for this fight. I know who I'm going to face, and although everyone speaks of the punching power of Miura, I have to say that I also have power. For this meeting, I have had a strong preparation. The core part of the work I have had was done right here at the Olympic Center [in Mexico], where I found the proper left-handed sparring partners," Vargas said.

"I do not fear the punches of Miura. Let's see how he reacts when I connect on him as well. He is a great champion, but nobody is invincible. I have seen his fights and there are ways to overcome him and to remove the world title from him. He is a great champion, fearsome, but now is the time for a Mexican to beat him."
