On Saturday, 30-year-old Francisco "El Bandido" Vargas (22-0-1) will get his first crack at a title when he faces WBC featherweight champion Takashi Miura (29-2-2) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on the Las Vegas strip.

The fight is part of the Miguel Cotto-Saul Alvarez HBO Pay-Per-View undercard.

Miura has developed a reputation for his success against Mexican fighters.  Since losing to his countryman Takashi Uchiyama, he has reeled off 9 consecutive wins, including 5 against fighters from Mexico.

Vargas said that he is not worried about Miura's track record against his countrymen and said that his team developed the perfect game plan to defeat the southpaw.

"I am very motivated for this fight.  I am happy to have this opportunity.  I had a great camp and I am ready to make a great fight for the fans.  I am not worried about the 'Mexicutioner' nickname. If anything it gives me more motivation but I know that he is a champion for a reason. He is very tough, a lefty - but we have a strategy to defeat him and that is what we will do," Vargas told BoxingScene.com.

When asked about his future plans, Vargas refused to speculate.  He said that he is only thinking about Miura and predicts a fan friendly fight.

"I'm not looking in the future. All of my focus is on this fight and after this fight we can talk about where we go from there.  I don't feel any pressure. All I feel is motivation and my style with his style I know will make a great fight for the fans," Vargas stated.

As for the main event, Vargas feels both fighters have an equal chance to win but that his fellow Mexican will have his support.

"I have to support my fellow Mexican and I am definitely going for him.  I think it will be a great fight and an almost 50-50 fight that can go either way.  I will be rooting for Mexico," said Vargas.
