Mandalay Bay Events Center, Las Vegas, Nevada - Francisco "El Bandido" Vargas (23-0-1) captured the WBC super featherweight title in dramatic fashion when he got off the deck to stop Takashi Miura (29-3-2) in the 9th round on the HBO Pay-Per-View undercard to Miguel Cotto vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.  The fight will be a strong contender for 2015 Fight of the Year when voting commences.

BoxingScene.com caught up with the new champion after the fight to get his thoughts on his future plans.

After a well deserved vacation, Vargas said that he would like to face the winner of the trilogy fight between Rocky Martinez and Orlando Salido.

"That is a fight that I have wanted for a long time.  I would face either of them. I've been asking for the fight against Rocky Martinez.  I would especially like to fight him to make another Mexico versus Puerto Rico fight," Vargas told BoxingScene.com.
