Former world minimumweight titleholder and junior bantamweight contender Francisco Rodriguez stopped former world title challenger Ronald Ramos in the sixth round Saturday night at the Grand Oasis Resort in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

The 10 round fight was a world title eliminator for the WBC junior bantamweight title.

Rodriguez (25-4-1, 17 KOs) scored a knockdown about midway through the second round, dropping Ramos with a lead left hook to the head. Ramos was visibly hurt, but did recover to finish the round.

Despite having to deal with a cut over his eight eye, Rodriguez was in control of the action, breaking down the southpaw Ramos.

During the fifth round, Ramos' punch output dropped considerably. During the sixth round, Ramos looked lethargic, fighting on the inside and leaning onto Rodriguez.

A right-left combination from Rodriguez dropped Ramos to the canvas. Ramos beat the count, but was in no condition to continue. Referee Florentino Lopez correctly waved off the fight at 2:45.

Ramos falls to 40-17-4, 20 KOs.

Rodriguez, who won the WBO and IBF world title belts at 105 pounds in 2014, has won his last seven bouts.

Fringe lightweight contender Jose Felix, Jr. stopped Jairo Lopez in the fourth round.

Felix (36-2-1, 28 KOs) last appeared in the ring on Feb. 17, when he was dropped five times at the hands of Jonathan Maicelo en route to a 10 round unanimous decision loss.

Weeks after the fight, Felix was released from his promotional contract with Top Rank.

Felix clipped Lopez with a left uppercut about a minute left in round two, dropping him to the canvas. Lopez rallied back in the third round, scoring repeatedly with right hands to the head of Felix.

About a minute into the fourth round, Felix landed a right-left combination that staggered Lopez backwards in a corner. Felix followed up with a barrage of punches, prompting referee Florentino Castro to step in and stop the bout at 1:09.

Lopez, who has lost two of his last three bouts, falls to 22-8, 15 KOs.

Lightweight Joseph Aguirre (19-0, 10 KOs), who is trained by Joel Diaz, dropped Facundo Ased (9-1, 5 KOs) twice en route to a fourth round knockout victory. Time of the knockout was 2:47.

Bantamweight prospect Elias Emigdio (5-0, 2 KOs) won a six round unanimous decision over Balam Hernandez (6-6-3, 4 KOs).

Emigdio, who represented Mexico in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, dropped Hernandez with a left hook to the head in round two, but Hernandez held his own in a losing effort.

All three judges scored the bout 59-54 in favor of Emigdio, who improves to 6-0, 2 KOs.

Junior featherweight Pedro Tut (16-1, 5 KOs) knocked out Geovanni Zamora (10-10-2, 2 KOs) in the opening round.
