WBA featherweight champion Carl Frampton (23-0, 14KOs) is on board and ready to have an immediate rematch with Leo Santa Cruz (32-1-1, 18KOs).

The two fighters collided two weeks ago at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. After twelve hard rounds in a Fight of The Year battle, Frampton walked away with a twelve round majority decision victory - and Santa Cruz's unbeaten record and WBA world title.

Santa Cruz has claimed to have an immediate rematch clause, while Frampton's promoter Barry McGuigan has denied there is any such clause.

Frampton also doubts the existence of a rematch clause, but he wants a second fight regardless.

“I don’t think there’s a rematch clause in place, but it would be a great fight, one I’d be happy to do. I’d love to bring him over to Belfast. We could sell out a stadium, but we’d need the right time of year," Frampton told Belfast Live.

Frampton is already making plans for his next training camp. The new champion has one condition - he wants the Santa Cruz rematch to take place before the Christmas holidays. Because of past obligations, Frampton has been unable to spend Christmas with his family for the last few years.

"I'll be looking to get back into camp for the next fight and it's looking more likely that it will be a rematch with Santa Cruz either in the UK or the States," Frampton told Sunday Life.

"I've told my team - and everybody is on board - that I want it before the end of the year, I want to have a Christmas I can enjoy because I haven't been able to do that for a few years because of big fights coming up afterwards. A rematch with Santa Cruz is what the fans and the television want and he was the champion and gave me my chance so I'm more than happy as the champion now to give him a shot."
