New York - The last time Carl Frampton (23-0, 14 KO's) came to the United States, many would agree that he had a lackluster performance against little known Alejandro Gonzalez.

For his encore this past Saturday, Frampton certainly made up for it dethroning Leo Santa Cruz in front of over 9000 in Brooklyn's Barclays Center. Though it wasn't Belfast, the Irish contingent certainly made their mark felt.

"It was a great a atmosphere but if you come to Belfast, I can guarantee its much rowdier," Frampton told BoxingScene.com.

In Texas the crowd was sparse but this time in New York, it was much different and that helped carry Frampton along.

"Well you know it make a world of difference," Frampton said of the crowd. "My first time here with Alejandro Gonzalez, I was in Texas, was only here a week and there wasn't that many people in the arena. But you come here, sure its no Belfast but at least 1000 Irish made the trip and you could hear them. You didn't want to let them down, making such a long trip and they were with me with every punch."

Frampton felt the key moment in the fight was when he made Santa Cruz stumble which let Santa Cruz know that Frampton had good power.

"I hurt him in the second round and I think that made the difference," stated Frampton. "We wanted to give him angles, movement, we wanted to control the distance and my timing was pretty good tonight. I said it all along I was going to give him something different, something he hasn't seen and look he's a great fighter but I'm a great fighter too and tonight I was the better man."
