All systems are go for the super bantamweight showdown between unbeaten titlist Carl Frampton and challenger Chris Avalos. Both fighters made weight for their alphabet title fight, which takes place Saturday evening at Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Frampton weighed in right at the 122 lb. divisional limit, while Avalos was just below at 121.9 lb.

The clash represents the first title defense for Frampton (19-0, 13KOs), who claimed the belt in his 12-round points win over Kiko Martinez in their celebrated rematch last September. Frampton had previously stopped Martinez in nine rounds in their first meet, but was forced to work harder in their non-stop sequel, coming up big in his first career title fight.

Saturday's contest at Odyssey Arena - which airs live on AWE (A Wealth of Entertainment) in the United States and ITV in the United Kingdom - marks Frampton's sixth career appearance at the venue, including five within his past six contests.

Avalos (25-2, 19KOs) fights outside of the U.S. for the second time in his past three fights. The Californian hit the road for his official title eliminator, scoring an 8th round knockout of Yasatuka Ishimoto last May in Macau, China.

BOXINGSCENE.COM STAFF PREDICTIONS: CARL FRAMPTON vs. CHRIS AVALOS

Ryan Burton (Frampton UD): I think Avalos will put up a spirited performance in enemy territory but lose a unanimous decision.

Jake Donovan (Frampton UD): A stoppage is possible if Avalos is too brave for his own good. But he also hits hard enough to keep Frampton honest, which will lead to a decision win after the local favorite realizes it’s the wiser route to travel.

John MacDonald (Frampton KO10): Chris Avalos is there to be hit and Frampton will oblige. Frampton's better shot variety should see him wear down the challenger and stop him late.

Ryan Maquiñana (Frampton KO8): Avalos has power, but so does Frampton, and I think he catches the Californian after an even first half of the fight. Frampton is well aware he needs to serve notice to his hometown fans and the junior featherweight division that he's a marketable option for the other two elite 122-pounders above him.

Takahiro Onaga (Frampton late TKO): Frampton wins late stoppage over a busted Avalos

Cliff Rold (Frampton Dec.): Frampton should have a hot crowd behind him to go with an edge in speed and pop.  This looks like a decisive decision going in.

Reynaldo Sanchez (Frampton KO6):  Fast and furious fight: both guys need a win, but Frampton will be too much in his home town and will put a battering to Avalos.

Alexey Sukachev (Frampton UD): Watching Avalos against some hard-hitting guys like Giovanni Caro or Drian Francisco, I'm more than ensured he will endure Frampton's attacks. However, durability isn't winning fights; one who wins is a fighter himself. Frampton is a better fighter than Avalos, and he will prove it in a convincing win in from of his home fans in an interesting scrap.
