Maidel Sando has bumped off another boxing cult favorite. The latest victim for the unbeaten Cuban super middleweight was Clay Collard, whom Sando outpointed over six rounds Saturday evening at Shelby County Fairgrounds in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Scores were 59-54, 59-54 and 58-55 in favor of Sando, who floored Collard in round two en route to the win.

The Clay train is over. Rather than commit himself on a path to a successful boxing career he approached boxing as if it were MMA and there himself into tough fights each time rather than fights he could actually learn something in while winning against a progressive level. That’s a big difference between boxing and MMA, MMA has a VERY SHORT formative stage. Boxing, even an Olympic level athlete can go 20-30 fights before a shot.
Clay will be all the more dominant when he goes back to PFL though....most of those guys won’t be able to deal with a boxers striking

See? This guy Sando just sent a message to all "prospects".

THAT is how you shut down momentum from someone who did the same strategy every fight.

Not a one of the guys Collard beat ever bothered to adjust strategy to beat him.

Clay Collard takes any fight offered to him and he does it without any sense. It's ruined his combat career.

His UFC debut against Max Holloway he took on a day notice - he was a featherweight. Now he takes on these fights against naturally much larger people without any thought. Collard is a 154 but he doesn't have sense to train and weight cut to make the proper weight class for him. He got his ass beat up fighting Bek the Bully at 168 taking that fight on a week notice and it happened again. He's giving himself brain damage and killing his marketability.

I don't say this about many fighters but he's an idiot. Guarantee this ends in a sad story.
