Yet another major New Year's Eve boxing card from Japan will proceed without the backing of a major stateside platform. Kazuto Ioka-the lone-ever Japanese male boxer to win titles in four weight-divisions-looks to prevent countryman Kosei Tanaka from matching that feat as they collide Thursday evening at Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo. The bout will be contested for Ioka's junior bantamweight title, with the event airing live on TBS in Japan and on several other outlets throughout the world, including Fox Sports in Australia, Boxnation in the United Kingdom and on ESPN platforms throughout Latin America.

Could be an early (or late, depending on your time-zone) shout for FOTY, glad we're getting it here in the UK. If US networks don't sign up the fight, they're pretty much asking boxing fans to use dodgy streams on VPN's.

The iSakura link didn't work for me (morning of Dec 29). I got the frowny face symbol and a "not secure" message.

Not surprised about this. The networks here are ignorant and have no interest in the foreign fighters fighting in the lower divisions. What a damn shame.

Yet they are running the Euro Bantam bout out of England on the 22nd. But nothing out of Japan seems they did the same thing last year with a fight around this time of year ? Vague memory of a cancellation of a fight over there ? Maybe it was the beginning of what was to come to the USA 90 days later. They decide what is important to put up on the screen important to there dealings anyhow. It will show up somewhere the next day.

Yea right! FOY all over this fight would be sweet justice. Doesn't Top Rank have a Espn# in that region and if so why not sell the usage rights, under these circumstances? If they have no interest in the fighters what about the sport? If it's a losing proposition well, this whole year seems to have been. When it comes to earnings.
Promoters talk about working together. Timing and circumstances make this is a perfect oppertunity for just that! These are two names boxing fans around the world have been looking forward to watch go at it. lt is a great matchup and final of the year. Unfortunately, a rough and historic year. Besides, I was hoping to see a tradition starting. Continue end of the year big fights on New Years eve.
