  • Comments Thread For: Joe Joyce's Trainer Hopes Dubois Recovers, Becomes World Champion

Last month, top heavyweight prospects Joe Joyce (12-0) and Daniel Dubois (15-1) squared off in a highly anticipated showdown in Westminster. The 23-year-old Dubois entered the ring as a 3-1 favorite but it was Joyce who took control of the fight in the second half and stopped Dubois in the 10th round. Dubois' left eye had begun to swell in the 4th round and a heavy jab at the start of the 10th round caused it to completely swell shut. He pawed at the eye before taking a knee and was counted out.

We’re all hoping for a Godspeed recovery for Dubois. Hopefully he can come back stronger from this setback. He’s still young and has more than enough time to improve.

I don’t think he had a fractured socket. Though those hematomas hurt like a betch every time it gets blasted, especially by a heavy handed Heavyweight with a great accurate jab. Those headlines are just to save face for Warren and future marketability. That’s the dark side of boxing but it is what it is.

So what if he quit. Getting blows like that on the eye could cause permanent damage to his eye, retina, even go blind as Joyce was relentless with that accuracy. Dubois gotta work with head movement and defense

Same thing happen with Angulo. Lara is a sharp shooter and attacking that same spot on purpose on the hematoma. Hurts like foook, imagine the pressure on the eye

There’s no rule in the book to not hit a hematoma if you can. That in itself is a strategy. Protect yourself at all times

No he can't. He lacks courage.

There is no shame in the way that DuBois lost. He lost fair and square and will come back from it and be a better fighter down the line. What matters more is DuBois's attitude from the lost and how he responds to it.

Joyce hoping so cause unless joyce gets a paperbelt max joyce aint becoming a champ as a professional so banking on dubois to magically become champ that way can say he beat the champ ect n possibly fight em n win championship for as long as fury aj even whyte are boxing he aint champ. For by that time filip n tony yaka would be ready 2-3 yrs from now and theyll beat joyce again for that shot
