  • Comments Thread For: Richard Commey-Jackson Marinez In Play For ESPN Fight Early In 2021

Jackson Marinez might not get a rematch with Rolando Romero, but his handlers are working toward landing him a fight against a former lightweight champion. BoxingScene.com has learned that negotiations are in the advanced stages for Marinez to fight Richard Commey in a bout ESPN would televise or stream either in January or February. The exact date for a Commey-Marinez match is not set because Top Rank's schedule of fights on ESPN and ESPN+ for early in 2021 has not been finalized.

Glad to see Commey come back! Wish Haney had fought Commey instead of Gamboa!

Rolando Romero was exposed as a one-trick pony when Marinez soundly defeated him. They should force Romero to fight Marinez in his next fight. That was a downright robbery.

Romero is completely overrated! Thankfully, Jackson is getting another opportunity. Great matchup!

I don't know what to think about this fight Commey really got destroyed by Teofimo Lopez. Will Commey have lingering effect from that devastating knockout he suffered in his last fight. Commey had impressed me in the past with his boxing ability, and his punching power. What remains to be seen is if he 's his old self, or a fractured version of himself. Marinez has really fluid boxing skills, and if Commey is less than his usual self. There'll exist opportunities that Marinez can exploit, to win their fight. Teofimo Lopez punches had caused damage to the brain of the Japanese fighter who had gone the distance with him. To the point that Nakatani had retired for a brief time afterward. Now Nakatani is resuming his boxing career, and is scheduled to fight Felix Verdejo. I hope that this doesn't turn out tragically for Nakatani. Teofimo Lopez is as devastating a puncher as they come in the sport of boxing.

It's a good fight Marinez deserved the belt but at least he's getting exposure and another payday Romero is scared of the rematch and he won't have a belt for long another boxer with good power is going to highlight reel KO him in the next year or two just watch.
