  • Comments Thread For: Malignaggi: If Floyd Fights Again, It'll Be Khabib Or McGregor, Not Pacquiao Rematch

Paulie Malignaggi isn't convinced Floyd Mayweather will fight again. If the 43-year-old Mayweather comes out of retirement for the third time, though, Malignaggi is certain he'll fight a UFC superstar either Khabib Nurmagomedov or Conor McGregor in a boxing match. The Showtime analyst can't envision Mayweather returning to the ring for a rematch with Manny Pacquiao, whom Mayweather out-boxed in their high-profile welterweight title fight five years ago Saturday.

Sounds right. Floyd is smart. He wants a HUGE payday without taking much risk. He wants to keep that perfect legacy intact and he knows he will destroy any MMA fighter in a boxing match. I could see him fighting PAC too if the money was right. If Floyd thinks the fight can generate about a billion dollars I think he jumps in and puts that perfect legacy at risk

It’s weird, all the people who call Mayweather boring are the same people calling him back to fight. Dude is 40-something years old, let it go...

“Protecting” Floyd? How come he didn’t “protect” him when they fought in 2015?
Floyd walked up to PAC during an NBA game and made the fight. He then beat PAC.
How is Floyd ducking a guy he already beat?

As it should be. He shouldn't have one foot in and one foot out of boxing. If he boxes Mcgregor or Khabib, I don't consider that a legit ranked fight that should make any difference to the active guys like Pac, Spence and Crawford.

Floyd already confirmed, and I don't think he was lying, that he definitely will not fight a proper boxer. If he fights again, it will be exhibitions or a boxing match against a mma fighter, whether Conor again or Khabib, total mismatches.

It's not just MMA, it's the casual audience. Like people that said that Manny 'dominated' Thurman despite CompuBox having Thurman landing more by a fairly good margin, but say that Bradley and Horn didn't beat Manny despite closer CompuBox numbers.

They use CompuBox when it suits their fighter and ignore it when the numbers have their fighter losing.

"So, for them, they look at CompuBox numbers or whatever stats they can come up with"
