  • Comments Thread For: Porter, Mares Agree With Breland's Decision To Rescue Wilder From Further Punishment

Deontay Wilder has yet to find a sympathetic ear from any given cornerman, nor are too many of his peers rushing to his defense. Much has been made of the litany of excuses offered by the recently dethroned heavyweight titlist, who has placed assistant trainer Mark Breland directly in the crossfires in the aftermath. Wilder took issue with the 1984 Olympic Gold medalist and former two-division titlist-turned-trainer literally throwing in the towel in the 7th round of his stoppage loss to Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21KOs) in their rematch last Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Agree, wilder was out on his feet. I just hope wilder realizes he’s corner was looking out for him. No need to take unnecessary punishment.

If Wilder don't make any immediate rash decisions he will see that Breland did what was best for him. The ref arguably would have stopped it or Fury may have finished it in devastating fashion.

It seems 99% of rational and reasonable fans agrees Breland made the right move by throwing in the towel.

Even if this ends up costing Breland his position with team Wilder, which I hope it doesn't, he can walk with his head up high, knowing he did what was right.

He wont see ****, the guy has always been a delusional moron. Just like he's too old to learn how to fight on the inside, he's not going to learn how to think logically.

I’m hearing he didn’t even let Breland in the dressing room after the fight

If that’s true that’s bad eggs

Breland knows boxing. Deas knows boxing theory. Deontay was a few shots away from a clean knockout. Deas never been punched upside the head. Breland should walk away after being used as a scapegoat for wilder getting beat up

Mark Breland's intervention quite possibly prevented Wilder from becoming another Magomed Abdusalamov: young, married, father, and permanently impaired former professional fighter.
