  • Comments Thread For: Oubaali vs. Donaire: TGB Promotions Wins Purse Bid For Title Fight

After nearly two months' worth of negotiations-and at points, lack thereof-finally comes resolution for Nordine Oubaali and Nonito Donaire. TGB Promotions secured the rights to the aforementioned bantamweight title fight through a purse bid hearing held Tuesday at World Boxing Council (WBC) headquarters in Mexico City. TGB submitted a winning bid of $401,000 to outpace the rest of the field.

Why didn't Schaeffer bid on the fight. This just confirms he's just a sham promoter. That's a ridiculously low purse for a fighter of Donaire's caliber. It's a cheap enough fight that it could end up on Fox.

Well said. Schaeffer’s cheap and its his curse for screwing people whom trusted him years ago. Donaire brought it all in his last fight, gave Inoue a test. Now Schaeffer’s skeptic against Oubaali? But tbh I’m curious how Tom Brown does it, good for him, smart dude. I think Donaire revived a huge following imho.

Hope this fight lands as chief support for Inoue-Casimero main event....

Donaire gets $150,000 odd - how much net after corner fees, travel and training camp? What a joke - he should hire a lawyer to sue his promoter for bad promotion.

Oubaali one of the most underrated fighters in boxing today he quietly been calling out Inoue for like a year now I would like to see that unification. He just beat his brother Takuma Inoue in Japan so maybe that is more motivation for Naoya to do that fight now

Anyone else noticing promotions associated with PBC and Al Haymon are winning purse bids left and right?
