  • Comments Thread For: Cederroos Drops, Shocks Espinosa To Unify WBA, IBF Titles

ATLANTIC CITY Elin Cederroos ruined Alicia Napoleon-Espinosa's plan to fight Claressa Shields. The unknown, undefeated Swede knocked down Napoleon-Espinosa in the second round Friday night, which accounted for the one-point difference on the scorecards of each of the three judges. Mark Consentino, Lawrence Layton and John McKaie all scored their action-packed fight 95-94 for Cederroos, who won their 10-round, 168-pound title unification fight by unanimous decision on the Shields-Ivana Habazin undercard at Ocean Resort Casino's Ovation Hall

Showtime really wanted Espinosa to win so she could face shields next 😂 let’s be realistic though with the scores, Espinosa didn’t win more than two rounds and was more or less a punching bag the entire fight.

I can honestly say that was a good fight Elin has some potential for barely starting to box she has raw power and a good jab uses range well with more polishing she can do some damage a little slow but her timing on that left hook is nice. Napoleon was gritty never gave up the fight was close had Elin by a couple rounds but was a good fight for sure.

Cederroos clearly won that by a bigger points spread. Some home cooking took away a greater margin for her.

Cederroos really isn't that good. I actually thought she lost. She has a basic 1-2 and the rest of her arsenal is throwing wild punches.

I think Espinosa's style is a better match up vs Shields, not saying she'd win but Cederroos will def get schooled with her basic style.

Cederroos turned pro 2 years ago and only fought 4 years in the amateurs. She's 34 and she didn't start boxing at all until 28.

She's improving leaps and bounds every fight. Maybe 2-3 more training camps and she'll be a finished product (doesn't mean she'll be able to beat Shields, but still).

This was only her third fight against an opponent with a winning record.

That just shows the lack of talent in women's boxing today... That fact that someone with that little experience could be unified Champion. Her size alone makes up for her lack of elite boxing skills.

I don't mean to be so hard on her she seems like a nice woman and no one can take away what she's accomplished, just tired of Shields being fed a steady diet of these over matched opponents
