  • Comments Thread For: Ortiz Trainer: "Hell No!" - Other Heavyweights Can't Beat Luis

Luis Ortiz's trainer Herman Caicedo revamped his 40-year-old fighter's physique ahead of his fight against Deontay Wilder. The Cuban fighter came into the fight five pounds lighter, and was winning across all three scorecards before Wilder landed his equalizing and erasing right hand in the seventh round of their heavyweight rematch on Nov. 23.

Ortiz has beat one good heavyweight in Jennings a few years ago, and was in the B Team in the amateurs.

There's a reason why Whyte, AJ, Parker, Miller, Povetkin, Kownacki, and everyone else in the top 10 except Wilder has somehow not found time to fight Ortiz.

It’s so easy for people to believe propaganda over facts. Fact is he hasn’t really fought much competition. He ducked the biggest payday of his career. Over his long active career he has a terrible resume for the hype he gets, when boxers like a whyte with a 2 year ban has a better resume than you then that says it all. Hope he retires now or hopefully the newcomers would fight him. He offers no one anything, let him sit on his hands at PBC and accuse others of ducking him.

          Well, there's two really..

They were all fighting better level opponents and Wilder cherry picked him?

          Or...

The WBC has Ortiz as the mandatory...oh yeah. Hooray for Travis Kauffman and keeping Ortiz relevant.

I see the Matchroom interns are up early defending PEDillian. Very simple way out for Whyte. Show contrition. Fans will forgive. Stop being a big mouth and most of all stop cheating.

Ortiz and his entire team are pathetic, bunch of ducks.

I would take Ortiz over everyone but AJ, Wilder, and Fury. He would have a good shot of beating them on a good night.

If you can beat everyone else in the division and Wilder is the only one you'll lose to, it seems unlikely that you reject an offer for more money than you've ever earned to fight for all the other heavyweight belts against Joshua in order to fight Wilder again for a lot less.

If Ortiz and his team think they can beat everyone else, go and beat some names in the division and at least provide some shred of evidence to back up these claims.

Why should e.g. never unbeaten yet Kownacki fight Ortiz who lost twice to Wilder ? It would be a waste of his time.
