  • Comments Thread For: Confusion Ensues As WBO Rules On Glowacki Final Appeal

Krzysztof Glowacki has spent the past several months hoping for a reversal of fortunes. In the end, the jury was split and leaves an opening for whether he will have a clear shot at redemption. The World Boxing Organization (WBO) offered its final ruling on an appeal awarding Glowacki the opportunity to avenge his controversial loss to Mairis Briedis, as per a 2-1 vote among the WBO World Championship Committe (WWCC).

The ruling, however, does not prevent Briedis from moving forward with the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) finals if he so chooses-it will just potentially come without the blessing of the WBO.

    Glowacki: *appeals*

WBO: "We don't have the authority to overturn the result. We defer this appeal to the local boxing commission."

Latvian Boxing Federation: "Um, we didn't license any of the fighters or the referee or basically sanction any of this."

WBO: "Err...ah...oh my. This is certainly embarrassing. Um, appeal denied-- next case!"

"throwing an elbow across the face of Glowacki (31-2, 19KOs). By his own on-air admission, he not only intentionally committed the foul but did so in retaliation"

If this happened in Vegas he would be going in front of the review board and getting rightfully suspended for up to a year.

The thing is Breidis would've won anyways & its pitiful when fighters try acting as if they stand a chance in a rematch just because some shady bs took place, the fact still remains that the illegal blow was not the reason glowacki was kod,he was CLEARLY going to have been kod anyway & he did rabbit punch beforehand anyways.

This reminds me of the Dirrell quitter & being hit after the bell then intentionally taking a dive so he can get the other fighter Dq'd because he knew that was his only way out of being kod which he would've been anyways & the punch after the bell wasn't in any way enough to ko him,but he literally was told to stay down by his team & then pretended he couldn't continue,& if that wasn't bad enough his coward uncle sucker punched his opponent after that btch Dirrel got the fight stopped

          Well said!

If this decision were up to the WBC, Mauricio Sualiman would of overruled Breidis unjust victory immediately; as was the case recently when Charlie Edwards got KO on the floor by Julio Cesar Martinez Aguilar. THE HELL WITH The BBBofC and Euro-Commissions is how the WBC feels about it!

I know many are upset with the WBC right now over Bumchenko, but this is the truth.

Why are only three people voting on this?

Does the WBO only consist of three people?

It's the WBO World Championship Committee who handled the final appeal. Part of the WBO obviously, but not a matter on which everyone in the sanctioning body casts a vote.

This whole fight was a mess... wasn’t even sanctioned by a commission both committed blatant fouls and wbo is just as confused... Real question need to asked is how did the wbss have this fight with no commission in place who did drug testing for fight

How does that even happen? Only in boxing would this be allowed.

Sadly no one is even going to care or hold the WBO's feet to the fire on this. It will just blow over and be forgotten.

LOL I would be pissed off if my fate was decided by only three people and ended in a 2-1 vote.
