  • Comments Thread For: Oddsmaker: Porter Fight Has Slightly Lowered Spence's Stock

His fight with Danny Garcia isn't quite yet officially announced, but Errol Spence won't catch the oddsmakers off guard once he's ready to return to the ring. The unbeaten and unified welterweight titlist from Desoto, Texas has opened as a 6-1 (-600) betting favorite over Philadelphia (Pa.)-born and bred Garcia (35-2, 21KOs), who is installed as a 4-1 (+400) betting underdog according to sportsbook BetOnline.ag. The bout was strongly floated a likely next step for Spence immediately after his thrilling 12-round split decision victory over Shawn Porter.

“As for Spence, the Porter fight slightly lowered his stock and it is now seen that (unbeaten three-division and fellow reigning welterweight titlist) Terence Crawford would be a clear favorite rather than a 50/50 in their fight, should it happen.”
    That's pretty damning...

So the books would have Crawford a “clear favorite.” Very interesting

Crawford going to live off Spence name just like Pacquiao did Floyd until Arum gets ready to cash him out. This revelation from “BetOnline” will get more attention than his next fight lol.

Bud has mastered controlling his distance. It would be great to see if Porter can apply the same pressure to Crawford as he did Spence. Crawford has a better jab than most from both stances, but I believe he could fight the majority of the fight against Showtime from the conventional stance. Spence can fight Garcia. Not saying that that is a bad matchup at all. But I would like to see Crawford vs Porter as well. Then hopefully we can see the Crawford vs Spence fight if they both past the tests.

                As it should be.
I've always had Bud beating Spence if they fight soonish.
Spence should be happy he was in a close hard fight against Porter because now he knows he has to give that plus an extra 25% to beat Crawford.
He will need a very good camp were his entire focus is 100% Bud for 36mins.
Bud will hurt you with counters, set traps, be just as strong plus be very hard to hit without copping something whilst in range.
If Bud sees that your hurt he always pounces on his prey.
Yer this should be a great fight.
                Bring it. WAR BUD.

I think Errol Stench jr. should be a +1000 on the moneyline if he ever grows a sack and decides to fight the #1. P4P welterweight KING Terence Crawford.

When was the last time a 'unified' welterweight champion was the underdog going into a fight? Does Crawford still have to 'earn' a shot to get to Spence considering that Errol is the clear underdog?
