  • Comments Thread For: Mario Barrios Blows Out a Game Richard Zamora in Four

CARSON, California Mario Barrios made sure to give fans what they're used to seeing at this venue. Following a completely forgettable lightweight bout between Javier Fortuna and Sharif Bogere, Barrios blew out a game Richard Zamora in the fourth round Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park. The taller, stronger Barrios battered Zamora with power shots for much of a junior welterweight fight that was scheduled for 10 rounds on the Gervonta Davis-Hugo Ruiz undercard.

It may have been a little premature, but I think the stoppage was inevitable.

That was a pretty good mismatch.

Decent stoppage. Evenif it was a bit early, it would have been stopped a few seconds later anyways. That right Barrios landed just before the stoppage had Zamora buzzed bad.

I think the stoppage was right, Zamora was fighting back at some points, but right before the ref jumped in Barrios was landing at will. Credit Zamora for being game, and credit the ref for not only being ready to step in quickly, but it was hard to judge when to step in because Zamora was so game and still trying to make a show of it.

Sometimes fighters can be too brave for their own good, Zamora didn't even have the wits to take a knee at that point so I ain't mad about the stoppage.

                Good fight!!! Bad stoppage.
Ref has to give the fighter a chance. He was on his feet and still protecting himself.
He got buzzed earlier but came back strong and even had Barrios hurt.

The flurry 15 secs before the stoppage was more devastating then the flurry that got the fight stopped.
Hate to see a guy who trained for mths loose a fight like that.
