  • Comments Thread For: Jarrett Hurd To Critics of Welborn Bout: I Need To Test Shoulder

Jarrett Hurd is well aware of potential criticism for taking on England's unheralded Jason Welborn in his next fight on December 1, but the unified IBO/IBF/WBA champion's taking full advantage of an optional defense to assure his recovering left shoulder is fully functional.

If this was a standard defence then Welborn would be a disappointing opponent, however for the 1st fight after shoulder surgery it's acceptable. Although I see it as an inflated ranking, Welborn is no.11 with WBA so at least it's a legitimate defence and not a "non-title" bout that plenty of other champs have had after coming back from injury.
Yeah Loma is in a unification with Pedraza in his comeback fight, but he's a special talent. No disrespect intended, but nobody mentions Hurd in the same breath as Lomachencko in terms of sheer ability.

He can test his shoulder better in sparring than by knocking out an overmatched opponent in 3 rounds.

Joshua last two fights Ring #3's including a unification .. what do I win ?

“Name another champion who has been fighting tough fights like Jarrett has, back-to-back-to-back, with the last two of them being former champions in Lara and Trout.

Seriously we can give him one 'gimmee' as long as its a proper fight next time. At least they're not trying to paint the opposition as a world beater.

No one should be questioning this man whatsoever... Based off who he's fought and is willing to fight, should leave no doubt that he truly wants to be the best

And what is worse the Public (who are fools) will pay to watch this garbarge. Welborn is a middleweight coming down in weight to fight a massive Light-Middleweight.

Welborn has to be the worst middleweight champion of Britian in the last 25 years not kidding.

This should be a six round fight to start of the show and you guys curse out about DON KING.

Americans are just dumb watch this **** for free and you will stop *****ing

                  Jarrett,

Don't let the fans dictate what your course of action is in the ring. Do what YOU have to do to get the job done.

If that means, using your size, length and weight to wear a guy down and stop him. So be it.

If that means using your boxing IQ, head movement, jab, etc.. So be it.

At the end of the day, YOU do what YOU have to do to get the win. Don't worry about "trying" to prove something to these ungrateful fans. You'll only be "trying" for the rest of your life. You can't please everybody

Yes exactly there's opponents according to boxrec they have Welborn at 33 at 154 but there's Willie Nelson at 36 Jeison Rosario at 31 Sam Eggington at 29 Nathaniel Gallimore at 27 so they could've picked a better opponent especially for a PPV card
