  • Comments Thread For: Miguel Berchelt vs. Miguel Roman - Undercard Revealed

Miguel "The Scorpion" Marriaga has had two previous cracks at world championship glory, falling short against Oscar Valdez and Vasiliy Lomachenko. The Colombian puncher's quest for a third title shot continues Saturday, Nov. 3, when he takes on Jose Estrella (20-14-1, 14 KOs) in an eight-round featherweight bout at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.

This mismatch still hasn't happened? Roman is a hell of a warrior but I dont think hes on Berchelt's level. This was supposed to be Berchelt's fiftieth tuneup like a year ago, right? Still hasnt happened. Wow. After this hopefully Berchelt will call out Lomachenko and they can fight at a weight of Lomachenko's choosing (catch weight of 132 let's say). Why Lomachenko's choosing? Because Berchelt is much better than Lomachenko yet ducked Loma at 130, causing Loma to move up to 135. Berchelt should not be rewarded for that by getting to fight Loma at 135 where it helps Berchelt's size advantage even more. Berchelt can still make 130, and Loma is small at 135 and can easily still make 132 anyway if not 130, so the fight should happen at whatever weight closest to 130 Loma can make comfortably, even 130 itself for Berchelt's title if Loma can still comfortably make 130. The only problem with 130 is Berchelt's ducking caused Loma to move up and add muscle to fight at 135, so now can he still make 130 with that muscle added? These are the complications that arise when ducking takes place.

But, if Loma can make it, I'd definitely like to see him back at 130, which is Loma's peak division, for Berchelt's title.
