Main Events is a family shop. Company CEO Kathy Duva keeps the circle tight, and no, their roster isn't beefy along the lines of the ones that Top Rank and Golden Boy can boast about. Duva's Main Events is a lean machine, and so when one of the upper tier Main Events crew takes a hit, the company isn't as quick to shrug off the pain as some larger en****** are.

No, his punch resistance is really on the wane. He'll get stopped again by any decent contender who's still standing after 4 rounds.

The problem for Kovalev is he has no Plan B for a fighter who can take his punches! As soon as Alvarez survived the 4th, I knew he was in for trouble! Also, once the reflexes go, there's not much you can do! Ward and Alvarez threw those right hands from miles away and he got caught flush! The punches that hurt, are the ones you can't see coming, and Kovalev is not seeing them come! I say he should fight Joe Smith Jr., or Badou Jack, whichever brings the most money, and call it a day! Maybe he can talk DeGale into fighting him @ 175?

It’s amazing how the body reacts to Old Man Time. Some earlier than others but he will get you in the End.

It’s gonna be a hard road back.

You could tell something was missing as the fight started. A farewell fight and hang up the gloves!

It was tough to see Kovalev go down that way. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. He's 35 and has been a pro for 9 years. Maybe he has one last title run left in him. It all depends on his mentality and also him situating his team. Like Duva said he might need to get a good conditioning coach that'll help him prepare adequately for his age and with an attention at stamina. Also his coaching situation might have been a factor coming into the fight. This was his first time out with a new coach. Something to think about but I'd love Sergey to go out on a high note.
