  • Comments Thread For: Jacobs-Sulecki Peaked at 874K Viewers, Averaged 811K on HBO

Daniel Jacobs' unremarkable performance in his previous appearance didn't deter boxing fans from tuning in to his fight against Maciej Sulecki on Saturday night. Ratings revealed Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research indicated Jacobs-Sulecki drew a peak audience of 874,000 for HBO. Their entertaining 12-round middleweight match maintained an average of 811,000 viewers.

Not bad. But the fact that HBO is basically running on par with Showtime, a network with a significantly smaller subscriber base, speaks volumes.

That's a high rating. Shocked it did that well basically beat out ESPN and ran neck and neck with PBC on FOX which is insane. HBO/Showtime/ESPN should not be having ratings on par with a Primetime Network. Those FOX ratings are god awful.

That is not a high rating for HBO. All 3 shows underperformed this weekend. HBO should not be running on par with Showtime considering they have a larger subscription base. Just like PBC on Fox & ESPN should not be running on par with HBO.

They are NOT running on par. They did better then Broner who is the only draw on showtime. For example Lara/Hurd drew 490K the week previous. Danny Garcia vs Rios drew 516K. You have a couple outliers but Showtime is pulling on avg about 400K-500K viewers.

Look at the ratings the week prior. You had a great lead in with Broner and still fans didn't care about the rest of the fights 500K or lower.

                Broner/Vargas 782K
                Charlo/Centeno- 518K
                Davis/Cuellar 460K

Broner is not the biggest draw on Showtime and they didn’t do better than it.

yes he is. Wilder can draw more if you place him with the right opponent. But he drew just 500K on showtime against Szpilka just for example. Broner has proven he can draw almost 800K viewers no matter who you put him in with. Did it last year against a journeyman Granados. And 2 weeks ago the entire broadcast did only 400-500 viewers then spiked up to 800K viewer just to see him in the main event. You don't give Wilder a good opponent or big names on his undercard his ratings are less then Broners. He might be a train wreck but he is the most consistent and high ratings generator for Showtime right now.
