Joseph "JoJo" Diaz (26-0, 14 KOs) successfully defended his NABF and NABO Featherweight Titles with a dominant third-round knockout victory against former world champion Victor "Vikingo" Terrazas (38-5-2, 21 KOs) in the main event of the Feb. 22 edition of Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif.

    Jo Jo did good tonight!

"Gary Russell, Jr. You're next," said Diaz, Jr. "I'm ready to have that world title around my waist. Once I defeat him, I'm going to give the fight fans what they want to see: champions against champions."

He mentioned Léo "El Terremoto" Santa Cruz and Abner Mares. I want to say he called out Mickey Garcia but maybe I was falling asleep on the sofa!

Jo Jo Diaz has a bright future if carefully matched, but I seriously doubt that he will beat Gary Russell. Russel is a little too quick and too experienced for Jo Jo at this point in his career.

I give him a chance verses Russell because Russell's inactivity can catch up to him when you never expect it but his win last night vs Terrazas who is nothing special ... had 1 win in his last 5 fights, not much left of this guy who was fed a lot of taxi drivers early in his career...

JoJo looked great last night. He is the real deal he checks every box was elite amateur, then Olympian, blue chip prospect, graduated to contender and has flat out dominated B and C class fighters. Only thing left is to see how he stacks up to elite A class fighters who have flat out ducked him for almost 2 years. He's fought multiple times on HBO and on big PPV undercards. Politics is the only reason he had to wait this long for a title shot. Look at other fighters being handed vacant belts and getting title shots after struggling with the type of fighters JoJo is wiping out.

For those that don't know the history end of 2016 he was top ranked by ALL 4 of the major belt orgs and spent the entire 2017 as the WBO number 1 ranked fighter and on every top 10 ranking including (ESPN, RING ect). The WBO champ is Oscar Valdez who has struggled time after time against B class fighters and was already beaten by JoJo in amateurs. The WBO is in Arum's pocket so that fight wasn't getting enforced so he jumped into a WBC eliminator because they promised him if he won he would get a direct title shot his next fight. Once by one top ranked WBC fighters turned down the eliminator. He finally got a fighter to agree and he pulled out days before the fight. Then got another fight won the eliminator back in Sept. But Russell has been delaying the fight and JoJo was forced to take this fight last night to stay active because he had been waiting on the WBC to finally threaten to strip Russell if he doesn't fight JoJo.

What are you talking about. Russell has only four more fights than Diaz and he has been a pro much longer. Four years to be exact.

If Jojo was a baseball player, I would say he's stepping in the bucket. His feet are too far apart. Gary Russell isn't going to let Diaz T off like Tarrrazas, unless a train runs over his feet or something. I'm not saying JoJo can't win, just he isn't doing anything to cut off the ring, Terraza is a long way from Gary Russel.

the only negative about JoJo is he's not a big puncher. He's got pop, he can hurt you, and if strings together good shots he will drop you. But he's never going to be a 1 shot killer. He's not a brawler and he's not going to stand still and let you tee off on him. He's a skilled technician, with elite reflexes and a very high ring iq. His greatest skill is his counterpunching (timing and accuracy). If you make a single mistake he will make you pay. Russell looks great against slow mindless brawlers but we saw how he looked in a chess match with Loma. JoJo is going to outbox and out think Russell who is fast but very sloppy and hittable. And that's not even bringing up the fact that Russell has been so inactive and will not have fought in over a year not what you want facing a sharp guy like JoJo. JoJo is younger, hungrier, smarter. I'm not even sure Russell is committed to boxing anymore.
