Linares vs. Gesta Fight Photos Gallery - LOS ANGELES - In front of a roaring crowd of 6,143 boxing fans at Los Angeles' "Fabulous" Forum, Jorge "El Nino de Oro" Linares (44-3, 27 KOs) successfully defended his WBA and Ring Magazine World Lightweight Titles with a shutout 12-round unanimous decision win against lightweight contender Mercito "No Mercy" Gesta (31-2-2, 17 KOs). Linares had trouble early as Gesta provided an awkward southpaw style. Photos by Ed Mulholland/HBO, Tom Hogan/Hoganphotos.

Linares has had a fantastic career. I never would have expected it after back to back losses against Thompson and DeMarco.

if gesta messed up linares' face, imagine what a hard puncher in mikey will do,,in one of the last rounds gesta hurt linares and linares even backed up,so one right hand from mikey is all it's going to take,he'll finish him in impressive style just watch

Mikey is a big, big guy, much closer to a true welter weight and shrinks down to fight at light weight so he can absorb more and hits hard and his timing is impeccable. On the other hand, at 30 years old, shrinking down to 135 is going to come at some cost, and Linares moves and not a guy that stops throwing punches

I'm sure Mikey regrets not taking Oscar's two fight deal but it's probably too late for that now. Linares will likely fight Loma for more $$ anyway.
