There have been discussions for a potential 2018 showdown between big super featherweight punchers Francisco 'Bandido' Vargas and Jhonny 'Bomber' Gonzalez. According to Mexican promoter Osvaldo Kuchle, who handles Gonzalez, he's been in talks to make that fight happen in the coming months. Earlier this month, Vargas (24-1-2, 17 KO's) won a unanimous decision over Stephen Smith in Las Vegas. For Vargas it was his first fight back after losing the super featherweight title of the World Boxing Council (WBC) to Miguel Berchelt in January.

This would be a good fight if this can get finalized. Both need a signature win before getting another title shot.

This is a 50/50 fight. Hopefully Golden Boy can make this fight. Now this wouldn't be a HBO Main Event fight it would be a strong co main event but I would prefer to see this on ESPN.

Vargas looked refreshed with Joel Diaz. Hopefully he looks that much better in his next fight together.

I got Vargas on this one via KO or brutal beating!!!! but given Johny Gonzales chin, brutal beating is probably not a viable assumption!!!!
