The World Boxing Association (WBA) Championships Committee ordered an elimination bout in the super welterweight division between Kazakh Kanat Islam and American John Vera. Islam is number one in the 154-pound ranking. His last fight was on September 29 this year, when he beat Brandon Cook by technical knockout to retain his WBA-Intercontinental belt. The fighter is undefeated, has 25 victories and 20 of them have been by knockout.
