  • Comments Thread For: Milan Melindo Retains With Bloody Split Nod Over Hekkie Budler

A bloodied Milan Melindo did not have an easy night in making his first defense of the IBF junior flyweight title. He was able to secure a twelve round split decision win over former world champion Hekkie Budler of South Africa in the main event of "Pinoy Pride 42" at Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu Saturday.

A bloody split nod loss in enemy country is as good as a win. We saw what happened to Carson jones and Manny. Hekkie gets road warrior points and should get a rematch... someplace else.

As I know there was no robbery. Budler was dropped. So I think that it is not similar to what happened with Manny and Carson Jones.

The judges were not from the hometown too.

"Judge Glenn Trowbridge had 115-112 and Takeo Harada 117-110 for Melindo but Carl Zappia scored the bout 115-113 for Budler."

Carl Zappia is Australian, the others USA and Japan.

Anyway, I read that the crowd was good, chanting "Kenya" when a Filipino won a decision he clearly did not deserve against a Kenyan.
