Seems like a clear error on behalf of the judge mistaking the fighters. That much seems clear as day. I don't know if you need to throw this poor bastard under the bus. And I definitely think you gotta flip it to what the judges intention was which is made clear by him giving 10-8 rounds when "Burnett" got dropped in his mind.

The really disturbing part of this particular story isn't this story its the fact that this has probably happened countless other times in fights without knockdowns when it never got revealed that the judge was confused about which fighter was which & his scorecard in a close fight decided the outcome.

Boxing is still behind other sports. While Baseball has instant replay for umpires can see close calls, which on many occasions the overturning of the bad call ends the inning and saves a run from being scored, or allows a run to be scored and decides the game, or HR, or stolen base, boxing still has no instant replay for the ref can see if a fighter falling was a kd or a slip. These things decide fights many times.

It seems like boxing doesn't do a good enough effort to change it's errors. They think having old 20th century rules makes boxing so prestigious or something. It actually ruins it at this point.

I don't understand the IBF's position on that at all..... ?

they basically said..... oh dear, how sad, never mind

they apologised, and promised better..... but did nothing at all to remedy the situation

like I was told YEARS ago..... an apology aint worth a pinch of shht, unless it is IMMEDIATELY followed by remedial action

yep, if they can categorically prove the error, then correct it

simply award the fight to Haskins

failure to do so, indicates that the IBF are toothless

they could at least order a rematch

they admitted they were wrong, but did nothing to correct it

much like when they stripped Fury, but then pardoned Joshua

              toothless fkn clowns

Sammartino should be furnished as a result or at least suspended.

What are you on about awarding the fight to haskins?? Ordering a rematch??

Haskins got battered senseless it was him who got the gift score from sammartino.

The IBF should overturn the SD and award UD to burnett

But the IBF is saying the fight should've been a UD for Burnett, not an SD. "The right man won" I guess. I didn't see the fight, and i'm only going by the article.

Due to this error, in which one of the scores after each round was recorded on the individual scorecards for the incorrect fighter, the bout was declared a split decision when it should have been ruled a unanimous decision in favor of Burnett.
