  • Comments Thread For: "Fighting Words" - David: A Price That Can't Stop Dropping

by David P. Greisman - As an amateur, David Price tried to succeed as Audley Harrison had once succeeded. Price failed. As a pro, Price tried to succeed where Harrison had failed. Price failed there as well. Given that one heavyweight followed in the other's footsteps, it's fitting that their paths once crossed. Harrison and Price fought in 2012. Harrison, the 2000 Olympic gold medalist representing Great Britain...

David price is not a very intelligent fighter to say the least. He doesn't use his long reach and height advantage. Lays on the ropes, and becomes a punching bag. Definitely time to hang them up

He was in serious need of some Emmanuel Steward training.

Feel bad for Price, Coldwell seems to be an intelligent trainer but a man of that size anyway putting on over 30 pounds (or a couple of stone)?? Surely his fitness issues would have shown up in sparring, unless he really exerts a lot of nervous energy in the ring and during the build up. He took some good shots and seemed to weather some early storms really well, he was just gassed out after 2 rounds and imagine panic set in. More energy gone.

He really should have blown Hammer away in there. He either needs to get in serious shape so he can box and move well or just call it a day. He has skill, no doubt about that...

Price has not learnt from his defeats, not mobile enough, poor stamina so puts weight on !!
has great reach but pores out jab when he should bang it out.
Looks nervous every fight, needs to be taught to relax.
Moves back in straight lines chin in air.
If he wants to continue should watch Lennox Lewis, Tyson Fury and Wadimir Klitckcho fights on how to use physical advantages otherwise whats the point.

I feel a bit for him, this was his last ticket really.

You could sense a change in his attitude recently, he's always been polite, quiet really, but the last 6 months or so you could tell by his comments that he was after a big fight and a pay day to sit on, considering he's touching 34 now.

He talked about hurting Joshua in sparring, seemed to be being a bit 'nastier'. It seemed he was looking to cash out with a Joshua or Parker fight..and may of been getting closer to a chance. That's gone up in smoke now though.

May well be a good chance he hangs them up now.

I agree. He's got a very small head and neck. Instead of trying to make he's strengths stronger, size and power, he needs to work on the weaknesses. Stamina and defence. I feel a bit sorry for him. It's like he's got it on his head being bigger will help him take punishment better. Being smaller and fitter would help him avoid it.

Stamina, defence and smarts would help him. He never needed more power and size. God only knows who's idea 19 plus stone was. Maybe he's a bad eater. But like you say if he concentrated on his weaknesses, he could be a lot better.

Dude reminds me of Homer Simpson, he's simple. How can a guy that big not utilise any of the attributes that make him have almost the perfect physique for a heavyweight boxer. He's huge his arms are nearly the longest in the divison yet he fights like he's 5' 10" and has no command of the jab at all, if I was Price no one in the divison would land a glove on me, but then I have a brain that functions, clearly Price has not.

he has no jab, no stamina, and no chin.

It was over in the thompson rematch, years ago tbh.

Those 2 positive tests were actually bad for him, he probobly told himself he only got beat by steroid cheats, when in reality he would of got beaten regardless...
