In a heart and soul performance before a sold-out crowd at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, Miguel "El Alacran" Berchelt (31-1, 28 KOs) pulled the upset of a lifetime and was crowned the new after an 11th round stoppage of former two-time world champion Francisco "El Bandido" Vargas (23-1-2, 17 KOs). The fight featured moments of heavy exchanges, which resulted in the reopening of a former cut above one of Vargas's eyes during the ninth round.

I hope Vargas is getting paid good and is smart with his money. The way he takes punishment and gets busted up in fights ( even the ones he wins ), it's not long before his body wears down.

Fight was even before the cuts. He needs to get the best plastic surgeon he can find to try and remove the scar tissue otherwise every fight here on they will just keep reopening. HBO hands down had the better fights tonight. 2 action filled wars.

                  Never fight 3 wars in a row......smh

When will boxers and especially trainers learn that when fighters fight 3 wars in a row 9 out of ten times they become damaged goods. Why would you fight muira ,Salido then berchelt in a row . Now wants to fight berchelt again....I get being a warrior but don't be stupid. Sometimes you got to pace yourself. Or at least take 9 months to recover completely and yes it takes 9 months to truly recover from a savage fight. Vargas should of took a easier fight then berchelt.
