Bernard Hopkins' farewell fight against Joe Smith Jr. drew an average of 934,000 viewers for HBO on Saturday night, according to figures released Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research.
The future Hall-of-Fame fighter's eighth-round technical knockout loss peaked at 1,035,000 viewers during that eighth and final round, which ended with Smith (23-1, 19 KOs) knocking Hopkins (55-8-2, 32 KOs, 2 NC) out of the ring and left him flat on his back, unable to get back in the ring within the allowable 20 seconds.

Ouch that's 600,000 horrendously boring rounds suffered by human beings in person. Including the minute break between rounds and the pre-concluded decision that's 240,000 minutes of life right down the drain.

Great numbers way better than that thug Crawford, who gets really crappie numbers but makes almost double from hbo 1.5M a fight

Pretty good numbers. Too bad it ended the way it did.
It definitely keeps Average Joe Smith in the public eye. Whoever he fights next should do good ratings. Wonder if they'll have him on show, hbo or pbc
