      That sucks, but it was a dumb move on his part to trust airport employees with 70 g's. He was probably trying to avoid paying taxes or didn't want to pay the fees it cost to get it to his country.

        How stupid can you be to be bringing that much cash in your suitcase?

        He could have bought travelers checks, managers check to put in his wallet or had the amount remitted to him through bank transfer.

            Why would someone carry $70,000 in a suitcase to another country? It would have been easier and more secure to simply wire the money from a bank in the USA to a bank in the Dominican Republic.

                    Guzman said that he had declared the money in the United States before leaving the country.
