  • Comments Thread For: Ruslan Provodnikov To Consider Future: I Had No Hunger

VERONA, N.Y. John Molina outpunched Ruslan Provodnikov in an all-action fight by revealing a new weapon in his arsenal, a sharp and steady jab. Molina captured a surprising unanimous decision in a 12-round junior welterweight bout that featured fierce exchanges throughout Saturday on SHOWTIME from Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N.Y.

Showtime's gotta be excited to hear that Provodnikov isn't hungry anymore.

I think he has maybe been in one too many slobber knockers. Did anyone else see the way he was sitting in the corner. It's like he knew he doesn't have it anymore.

I always liked him because he brought the action. Hell he couldn't even get past a jab tonight. Maybe he should hang em up.

Gotta be embarrassing to flop on your network coming out party.

Ruslan has had some hard fights & is probably a couple years older in his "boxer age" because of it. Losing to Molina, while not good & certainly not matching up with my prediction & probably being his worst L, isn't THAT shameful of a L to take. Molina is a spoiler who's a dog you can never count out.

That said I'd hope Ruslan considers his future in the game after this L & considers hanging them up. I think he's about 2-5 in his notable fights at this point. Its not going to get any easier, so I think he's found his ceiling in the sport. He seems to have some solid enough plans after the sport that getting hit in the head a few hundred more times won't do that much towards moving forward.

You can't hate a guy for trying to sell a fight. Or predicting how things would go or feel on fight night pre-fight night.

Personally I just see press **** as part of the business of being a boxer that probably 95% of guys hate, dislike or are completely indifferent to to just going on autopilot during. Most of the stuff guys say is interchangable from fighter to fighter, fight to fight, more or less.

He's endured too much punishment and for nothing, without much reward as he has come up short when it counts. Working that hard, going thru so much in the ring for the same result. It's understandable. Thanks for the thrills champ, you'll always be respected and remembered as one of the most courageous warriors this sport has seen.

never seen molina throw hardly any punches before, always thought he was too weight drained and not skilled enough, shocked.

I said it three fights ago the man is shot, he cannot pull the trigger anymore. He is getting in close but not letting his hands go at all.

That is the sign of a shot fighter when they no longer can throw punches even when they see openings. He couldnt throw anything against Lucas either and when he did land he didnt follow up like he used too.

The Ruslan fight versus Alvarado was his peak after that he has been nothing.

He is physically fit and in shape but when you cant pull the trigger on shots it means you are done.
