  • Comments Thread For: WBA: Alexander Ustinov is MIA, Must Decide on Luis Ortiz

Earlier this year, the World Boxing Association (WBA) announced a resolution earlier this year which ordered a heavyweight tournament with a series of fights to create a single world champion. At the moment the WBA super champion is Tyson Fury, the WBA regular champion is Ruslan Chagaev and the WBA interim champion is Luis Ortiz.

      Unbelieveable

This guy better be found and let his promoters need do some form of a deal with Golden Boy. If not Luis Ortiz and Golden Boy pretty much got rushed into settling on some weak heavyweight opponent because HBO wanted to get him back on TV as soon as they possibly could.

Well they had until Feb 4th and couldn't come to a deal because Ustinov went missing, so why extend the deadline? The WBA are supposed to be making their champs face each other rather than forcing random opponents on the guy holding the 3rd level version of their title.

Wait out Chagaev-Browne and then either order the winner to face Ortiz, or see if Fury is available/willing to face him after the Wlad rematch.

Wasn't Ustinov from Belarus? He probably said the wrong thing about the president. Just let Ortiz fight all the top WBA guys, it doesn't matter.

Ustinov wasn't afraid to face Fury on a few days notice, so it's not lack of courage, if that's what they are hinting.
