  • Comments Thread For: Taishon Dong is Now Training With Freddie Roach

He's not the best boxer that Freddie Roach currently trains, but there's no doubt that the seven-foot, 285-pound Taishon Dong is his biggest.

The Chinese heavyweight has been working with the renowned trainer for the past month or so at the Wild Card Boxing Club.

The 27-year old Dong, who has a record of 5-0 (3 KO's), is still very green and very much a long-term project.

He's not a great boxer (not even sure I'd call him a good one just yet), but he's a physical monster. Roach could be working with an unpolished diamond. Should be awesome to watch his progression, especially if Roach is training him.

Roach should probably retire in the next few years.

Roach will bring out the best in Dong which might not be enough.

Dong makes Tye Fields look like Muhammad Ali.

He moves his hands pretty well, actually has some decent technique. And he's freaking massive.

It really won't take much to make him a pretty good fighter IMO. He's already got a solid base. That size advantage is pretty ridiculous.

How much longer before Yusef Mack goes to wild card?

Interesting fact - his name means "blow job" in Newcastle.
