  • Comments Thread For: Bob Arum Pleased With Performance By Andy Ruiz

Heavyweight Andy Ruiz improved to 26-0 (17 KO's) by pounding out an eight round decision over veteran journeyman Raphael Zumbrano on Saturday night the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He looked much sharper than he did on September 26th when he out-pointed Joell Godfrey, in what was his first fight in over nine months.

Boxrec has Ruiz listed at 6'2", 215lbs should be an ideal weight for him, itd make him a really small HW though. Usually big guys like him lose confidence with their weight loss because it takes away their advantage, this dude needs to stay active with a steady diet of salad and tomato cans til he reaches an ideal weight while gaining confidence because losing 60+lbs in boxing is like starting over from scratch. Oh well good luck to him, no problem with fighters trying, its when they get handed everything (world title included) is when fighters should be shamed not when they try...

He needs to stop studying Chris Arreola tapes and watch Joe Louis knock out 80+ inch reach Max Baer and Prototype-Klitschko Primo Carnera.

He'll never get where he wants to go the way he is. 215 is too small, but 230 would be a huge improvement. Lose some and move some. Get rid of the moobs.

He weighed in at 238, he's not that far off. That about where he will be. 25 pounds less than last year. Everytime I see a thread on him people want him to lose more weight - if he was 230 now, I have a feeling people would have 220. If he was 220, they'd want 215. Just get used to that blubber and focus on his skill. He's got a good boxing sense, goes to the body, throws in combination, has handspeed - I've only seen him hit while he was wide open twice (hamer and that haymaker from Zumbrano). He took the Zumbrano punch better than Hamer and that speaks to him being in improved shape and have stronger legs (no longer wears a knee brace). The standard people hold for prospects is ridiculous he did fine. Make a 10 rounder now
