  • Comments Thread For: Buster Douglas: Berto Win Won't Surpass My Tyson KO

Some experts are stating that if Andre Berto pulls out a victory on Saturday night, when he challenges Floyd Mayweather Jr. for the WBA/WBC welterweight titles at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas - it would rank as the biggest upset in boxing history.

One person disagrees with that viewpoint, and that man is former undisputed heavyweight champion James “Buster” Douglas — the man responsible for pulling off perhaps the greatest upset in boxing history when he knocked out Mike Tyson in 1990 to capture the title.

It wasn't even just beating Tyson the man, it was destroying the indestructible & ferocious aura surrounding him.

Most guys don't enter the ring scared of Floyd like being scared of Tyson. Most of the guys Floyd fights think Floyd is a defensive guy who won't fight toe-to-toe. Tyson was there to go toe-to-toe and destroy you.

          No, it's not about age.
He is right because he beat Tyson, and Berto is fighting Mayweather

P.S Douglas here ignores the fact that he was knocked down for full 13 seconds, just one round earlier!

This ^ the only thing Floyd opponents have to worry about is losing a unanimous decision for a couple million. Tyson opponents had to worry about getting knocked unconscious for it. Berto upset wouldn't even be close to tyson vs douglas, the greatest upset of all time.

was tyson just paying his friend buster douglas to show up and lose at the tail end of a mediocre career like floyd's doing with berto?

douglas vs tyson was an actual fight not some sham to fulfill a contract so it's apples vs oranges

Nobody has entered the ring against Floyd with the same scared ****less & uncertain face Spinks had when he was across the ring from Tyson.
