  • Comments Thread For: Joseph Parker Continues To Rise in World Rankings

New Zealand heavyweight Joseph Parker's latest win has seen him lift to a career-high No 6 ranking with the World Boxing Organization.

The first round demolition of Australian Bowie Tupou in Invercargill earlier in the month was another positive result for the rising Kiwi star.

He collected Tupou's WBO African heavyweight belt to go with his Oriental title, raising his stocks considerably with the respected organization.

I don't like how these prospects are being shoehorned into the top 10 by the governing bodies.

Parker has fought some decent opposition so far, sure, but it does not warrant a top 10 slot.

Same applies to AJ - isn't he #2 with the WBC?

Deontay Wilder build a career off of beating bums. How can you knock another fighter for this?

Bowie Tupou would actually be a good name on Wilder's resume, arguably his 3rd to 4th best opponent. Even Botha, Minto & Sherman Williams would've been nice to see on Wilder's resume.

I like that they're matching Parker up with Meehan next, at 23 fighting these type of guys every couple months is the right way to build him.

Yes, Parker has been matched up against decent, but not great, opposition so far early on in his career. With only 15 pro bouts under his belt, those names are pretty good.

Wilder had good progression until he beat the brakes off Stiverne who everyone was hyping up as this iron chinned power puncher who was gonna ko deontay.

Wilder is the best heavyweight in recent memory, deal with it

Wilder is probably 3rd best HW in the US behind Jennings and Thompson, so that makes him almost Euro level. Impressive!

Wilders development was slower than Parkers.

                  Why bash Parker ?

He cant take any shine off your boy, so long as your boy keeps fighting good opposition and winning.

Let the kid develop, he is only 23..... Wilder was 29 before he stepped up.

A big test for Parker would be Bryant Jennings, I want to see how Parker deals with some who can stay active with his punches.
