  • Comments Thread For: Wilder: If Briggs Fight Happen, I Promise I'll Retire Him!

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder still has no idea who he will face on Sept. 26.

But Wilder (34-0, 33 knockouts) is sure of who he will not face on that date. And that's none other than Brooklyn’s Shannon Briggs, who is the last American to hold a heavyweight title in 2006 before Wilder won the belt in January of this year.

It's clear that Wilder not only dislikes Briggs personally but he also doesn't take his boxing career seriously at this point.

Briggs doesn't deserve a shot but considering Wilder just defended the title against Eric Molina and will probably be up against another no hoper in the fall, he can't be so dismissive. He needs to stop blowing smoke and get it on with Povetkin.

Briggs WBA #5 but he has no ranking in any other organization. Top 15 in the WBC...
        1. Povetkin
        2. Joshua
        3. Glazkov
        4. Stiverne
        5. Jennings
        6. Browne
        7. Szpilka
        8. Ruiz
        9. Takam
        10. Thompson
        11. Arreola
        12. Duhaupas
        13. Perez
        14. Fujimoto
        15. Molina
So he has a mado against Povetkin next after his September defence so who does he fight? Fujimoto I suspect & he was mentioned before. How does he have a #14 ranking? He won the Japanese HW title. He lost to Solomon Haumono by TKO 3 years ago & has won 7 straight against Aurieng, peter okello, takehara twice, radeff, & 2 wins over former MIDDLWEIGHT Nobuhiro Ishida... When you look at the names you can come up with some interesting fights. Thompson, Szpilka, Ruiz, Arreola, Duhaupas or Browne seem like the likely choices outside Fujimoto. I don't see him Glazkov as he is the IBF mandatory. I doubt he fights Jennings in a voluntary. I don't see him giving Joshua a shot yet as the fight is not big enough & is risky. Carlos Takam is a threat as he can take punches. He is big & aggressive so I doubt he gets it.

Molina was ranked in the top 15 so he didn't go outside the rankings. That Fujimoto clown better not be next. He is WBC #14. He should fight Arreola or Thompson at the very least...

Briggs vs Wilder would be great, two huge punchers collide, youth vs experience

Briggs should never be mentioned as a possible opponent by any belt holder. Not even the IBO Junior Far East Pacific Islander belt holder who ever he may be. This is just another PBC farce, just calling it like I see it.

It seems like they (pbc, haymon, turd) are actually kicking the tires on this**** show of a fight, but after that crap card on espn last night it doesnt suprise me.
