Interestingly, Floyd was handed the mantle of #1 Pound for Pound fighter in the world after his unanimous decision win over Demarcus “Chop Chop” Corley. The interesting part is that Zab Judah beat Corley in similiar fashion ten months earlier and at the time of Judah’s win nobody dared move Judah anywhere near the Top 10.

He nearly cleaned out the Junior Lightweights with several impressive wins. Among his 130-pound division highlights were the knockout of Diego Corrales (which at the time was a near mega-fight), a questionable TKO win over Angel Manfredy, the stoppage of Genero Hernandez and an assortment of wins over the likes of Jesus Chavez, Emanuel Augustus, Justin Jukko and others.

Admittedly, many of Mayweather’s wins at 130 look good on paper now but didn’t look so good while they were happening. Many of Mayweather’s wins were boring affairs in which Floyd hid in a defensive shell in between sporadic offensive bursts. His method of countering his opponent’s attacks with an exaggerated defensive style and his tactic of blocking punches with his shoulder while leaning back on the ropes served not only to frustrate his opponents, it also frustrated fans. Should boring fights count toward #1 status?

is this guy paid for writing this junk? This is one of the most biased articles I read on boxingscene, it makes Frank Lotierzo look like Solomon.

I mean he even claims that mayweather does not look good while winning... if not being hit flush for almost his entire career while punishing AT WILL every fighter he faced except for Castillo does not count as looking good I wonder what the hell is good.

this article is seriously ridiculous. the author is obviously biased, especially with that "exaggerated defense" comment. what the hell does that even mean? the author is trying to say that floyd hasn't beaten any big names yet winky wright and pacquaio have? mayweather has beaten equally if no better opposition then both of them. did he really mention that winky has beaten bronco mckart and downplays the fact that mayweather beat jesus chavez? last time i checked no one cares about bronco mckart and jesus chavez is still a good fighter and was about to have a big fight with berrara.

so mayweather has beaten chico, jlc twice (both top 10 guys), gatti, corley, n'dou, jesus chavez, angel manfredy but because pacquiao beat berrara and morales (and lost to morales incase anyone forgot) and had a "dramatic draw" he has fought better opposition then floyd? this article just seems like someone looking for any excuse to disrespect floyd.
