  • Comments Thread For: Joseph Parker Eyes New Opponent, Fujimoto Takes Off

Dean Lonergan has labelled Kyotaro Fujimoto "gutless" and "a coward" following the Japanese heavyweight boxer's withdrawal from a scheduled fight with Joseph Parker in Invercargill.

Parker's promoters Duco Events had agreed to terms and conditions with Fujimoto for him to fight Parker on August 1.

However, soon after Parker knocked out German Yakup Saglam in Palmerston North, Fujimoto contacted Duco and advised them he no longer wanted to take the fight on.

Parker should be fighting the same calibre of opponents as Joshua, they've both had roughly the same number of fights. IMO Parker should fight Kevin Johnson after his next fight.

Joshua will be fighting Mariusz Wach in September who is 30-1 and never been dropped. Parker shouldn't be fighting only bums.

Nah, Johnson is done. Parker would smash his face in.

The problem with Parker is that he's too powerful for his own good. He should probably carry his opponents--just tap them lightly like it's a sparring session, allow them to go at least 6 rounds.

By destroying them so quickly, he's scaring away potential opponents.

              Sherman williams did just fine.

Every one of Parkers "high profile" stoppage wins has been crushed in as good, or better fashion by someone else.

              Luis Nascimento

              Dillian Whyte KO2
              Haumono KO3
              Takam TKO4
              Fury KO5
              Parker TKO7

              Yakup Saglam

              Charr RTD2
              Parker KO2
              Solis KO7

              Costya-jr

              Boytsov KO2
              Parker KO4
              Price KO6

              Minto

              Grano KO3
              Arreola KO4
              Parker KO7
              Huck RTD9

So let's not pretend he's knocking out unstoppable guys here, he's knocking out guys ho get knocked out by anyone decent, when he fought Williams we saw that against a durable opponent, his power is nothing special.

I second Kevin Johnson being a good opponent, I think Parker would not stop Johnson, I also think Joshua should fight Sherman Williams and knock him out inside 3 rounds to prove a point,

Joshua will probably take a few tune-up/stay busy fights before Wach. If he does then Sherman would be a good opponent to assess where he is at compared to Parker.

Parker is a bit younger than Joshua and didn't have the same level of amateur experience. He's obviously going to progress at a slower rate than him

Your unfounded hate for Parker is repugnant. Parker is still an up-and-comer making his way up through ranks by fighting solid B level opponents. This is how every HW is brought up - Wilder, Fury, Joshua - have all done the same.

Not sure what your motivations are for criticizing Parker. He's a solid fighter with good skills, speed and power and his fights are very entertaining.
