Kiwi light heavyweight boxer Robert Berridge has lost the third fight of his career, coming up short in an underwhelming unanimous points decision for the IBO world title against Thomas Oosthuizen in Gauteng, South Africa.
Berridge, now 26-3, took the fight on Saturday against the undefeated South African (25-0) on short notice and managed to last 12 rounds. But the judges' scorecards were definitive; 116-112, and two which read 117-111, all in favor of Oosthuizen, who did enough but laboured at times.
